London: day 3
Last Day!
,Day 3 in London was, for lack of a better term, LIT! After my not so great day on day 2, I woke up feeling refreshed and excited.
This was such a good day and my favorite of the trip. I saw so many things and really just took them in and enjoyed the moment of where I was and how I had made it there!
Things I did:
1. Woke up Happy!
2. Turned right instead of left when leaving hotel.
3. St. Paul's Cathedral Mass
4. Left mass early bc it was HELLLA long. (can I say hella when talking about something religious? hmmm)
5. Walked across millennium bridge to Tate modern.
6. did not go into Tate modern bc I do not enjoy modern art.
7. Globe theatre.
8. could not tour bc it was closed for a show.
9. Romeo and Juliet - BLEEEHHHH. I can't
10. basked in the glory of being near the globe.
11. sat and watched the thames. (I learned people used to pronounce the "TH" but then some German guy who became King couldn't pronounce the "TH" sooooo.... Now it's pronounced like Tames. #fact)
12. Built up the courage to approach two "Poets for Hire"
13. Hired one for a poem. received poems from both guys because they appreciated my Subject - Unrequited Affection.
14. The poems are bomb. Maybe I'll post sometime. But for now - they are for me only.
15. Went to some church where Shakespeare worshipped.
16. Spent a ton of time in this church.
17. Unlike St. Paul's you could actually sense a spiritual presence in this more intimate venue.
18. Got a coke at Pret. Then kept seeing the cashier everywhere for the rest of the day. Was he following me?
19. Some food market... I cannot remember the name and am too lazy to try to think of keywords to search.
20. Street Fair.
21. tons of walking
22. Tower Bridge.
23. Tower of London.
24. Mambo No. 5 - of all songs - is played by live band at the tower. Sign from heaven, that was! Zack was definitely there with me! Another reason I think that day was so good!
25. Chillin' at the tower. this was amazing and relaxing. Which puts things in perspective.
26. I decide the tower isn't that far of a walk to Big Ben...
27. it took 2 hours practically ( I got so many damn steps in! I lost 8 pounds on this trip)
28. I was in an abandoned tunnel on that long journey - and clutching my pepper spray the whole time.
29. Relaxed in the grass in front of Big Ben, Parliament, and Westminster Abbey (told you this day was relaxing)
30. Head back toward Buckingham palace (yes again) we don't have palaces in the US ok! Let me live!
31. LOST.
32. I ended up on some residential street where police were guarding someone's house. I swiftly turned around and subsequently got even more turned around.
33. 40 minutes of walking proved to have led me in a circle back to Westminster Abbey
34. Discover that I belong on a grid system. #america
35. Wind my way through the maze of streets back to Haymarket. somehow.
36. Walk past Phantom - which should've been dark that night but ushers were outside - so of course I approach and ask "IS THERE A SHOW TONIGHT???" Response "No, it's a private Phantom of the Opera Event."
37. I calmly walk away. But actually wanted to jump the rope and go in.... LET ME IN!
38. Spaghetti House.
39. Large plate of spaghetti and too much wine for someone alone in a foreign country.
40. Back to the hotel.
41. Pack
42. Sleep.
This was the best trip I've taken. Everything about it was just so real and so right and all completely funded by myself. This trip was all mine and so many things happened that changed me, moved me, and opened me up to more than what life was before. It was a unique experience and I have so many stories to tell and Im just so grateful that I had the mind to make a savings account labeled "Trip to London" last year...
